Warmington Garden Party - 28 June 2019

Friday, 28 June in the Heart of Warmington

Join us in the beautiful garden of the Old Rectory on Friday, 28 June from 6.30 pm.  Patrick and Penny once again host a Garden Party to raise funds for Warmington Church.  Your admission ticket (Adults £5, children £2.50) will give you delicious strawberries and Pimms (or soft drink).  In addition, we are delighted that Lee from Warmington Chops will be providing a barbecue.  Just buy whatever you like from our friendly local butcher’s grill.  There will be a tombola, bottle stall, games, raffle, music and stalls.  A lovely, relaxed way to end the working week and start a summer week-end.

Last year, the sun shone and hopefully this year will be no different.  Let’s look back at reports of similar events from old parish magazines:

1951:  On Saturday, 11 August, a most successful Fete was held for the benefit of the church.  A worse day could scarcely have been chosen: RAIN, RAIN AND MORE RAIN!  Everything which had been set out in the Vicarage Garden had to be moved to the Village and British Legion Huts.

1954:  The Garden Fete, held on June 26th, was a most attractive and enjoyable occasion, in spite of the rough wind.

1956:  The Fete, held in the Vicarage garden on June 23, was blessed with a fine warm day.  From the opening by the Archdeacon of Oakham until the close of the activities, the whole event passed easily and pleasantly.
