The Church of St Mary the Blessed Virgin, Warmington was re-opened following major restoration on 6 October 1876. Revd James R Hoare was appointed Vicar of Warmington in July 1873 and found the church suffering from neglect and in an advanced state of decay. The Vicar and his indefatigable wife, Octavia, set to work to raise money for the restoration and to employ the famous architects Sir George Gilbert Scott and Benjamin Ferrey.
