Revd Annie Goldthorp
Revd Annie has been Vicar in the Warmington Benefice, since February 2025. A bit more about her . . .
My claim to fame is that I was the first female apprentice employed by Land Rover Ltd back in 1976, so I clearly enjoy taking on roles traditionally thought of as being for men! I was a commercial apprentice but had to spend the first year working with all the other apprentices (150 boys) at the training site in Erdington, Birmingham. It was a great lesson in working with people at all levels within the organisation, from shop floor workers right up to senior management and directors.
Many years later, I was running a magazine publishing business where I gained more people skills as well as accounting and everything to do with employment. I now realise that all of these experiences equipped me well for the various skills I have needed for ministry.
Unsurprisingly then, I still enjoy working with people, especially when I can help them identify their strengths and put them to good use. I am also a strong community person and believe that the church, both the building and the people, should be right at the centre of a community. I very often find myself working with those on the outside of the church, which it turns out is a good way of sharing the love of Jesus with those who have yet to find him.
Pretty much everything I do starts and ends with prayer, not necessarily formal prayers, but often those prayers asking for help and guidance throughout the day. In my experience, churches that intentionally pray together, grow together and that is what I would like for this benefice.
On a more personal note, I am a mother to Jeremy who is married to Kirsten, and grandmother – Grannie Annie, to Willow and Bowie. My constant companion these days, other than God obviously, is my Springer Spaniel Sonnet who often comes to church with me on a Sunday morning.
