Kathryn Baird’s fascinating talk “One of the Best Living Lads” presented
information about the war dead of Cotterstock. Thanks to the efforts of
Kathryn, more information is known about the lives of these men and their
final resting places. Through her in-depth research two more soldiers
from Cotterstock, who lived in Mill House and went to Oundle School, were
also discovered. Kathryn has created a file on the six men which will be
available for people to view in church.
Although none of the men are buried in our churchyard, following the talk
visitors went into the churchyard to lay flowers on the graves of their
relatives. Our Rural Dean, the Right Reverend Eddie Smith, attended the
talk and, whilst enjoying refreshments afterwards, commented “it was a
poignant and touching tribute to the men from Cotterstock”
